We want everyone to have an enjoyable experience while attending an event at SOAR Regional Arts. You will find important information pertaining to Godspell below.  If you have additional questions, please email us at soar@soararts.org.

“Godspell” is a musical based on the Gospel of St. Matthew, featuring improvised scenes and music inspired by hymns. The show focuses on a group of followers led by Jesus, with only two named characters: Jesus and John the Baptist/Judas. The rest of the cast use their own names. Audiences will enjoy the playful storytelling, parables brought to life with vaudeville, improvisation, and varied musical styles, along with high-energy performances and lively dancing.

Note: Some parables touch on adult themes like adultery and greed, but they’re mostly handled comically. The second half gets darker, depicting the last days of Christ with some intense moments, though the violence is theatrical and minimal. The musical ends on a hopeful note with an uplifting song and dance.

Admission: Free, with a suggested donation of $10 per person.
